The SCART Radio & Television Station Server & Controller is taking shape at the Portsdown site in Portsmouth, bringing together the GB3FW DATV and GB7FW D-STAR repeaters.

Once fully operational, the station will support STEM learning through amateur radio, television and electronics, with opportunities for the local community, schools and other educational groups to get involved.

GB7FW D-STAR

  • Live TX/RX indicators inferred from gateway traffic.
  • Logging of local and remote stations, with callsign and country information.
  • Reflector connection history.
  • Predicted coverage map and repeater information.

GB3FW D-ATV

  • BATC stream previews with quick station selection, automatic rotation and keyboard navigation.
  • Direct preview playback and links to full BATC stream pages.
  • HTML5/legacy format badges based on the BATC directory.
  • Automatically updated active-stream listings.
  • Predicted coverage map and repeater information.
  • Receiver/transmitter status and reception logging prepared for future commissioning.

The first DATV RX Raspberry Pi, running BATC Portsdown and providing the receiver stream, is planned for installation on Wednesday.

Site Health

Expanded battery-voltage monitoring, history plots, network statistics and service-health information. Current monitoring will follow as additional sensors are installed.

Weather

The weather pages and logging are prepared. Restoring live readings and checking the Ecowitt and Met Office WOW feeds are part of Wednesday’s onsite work, alongside the planned mast installation.

Announcements and History

Page-specific messages and station-wide announcements can now be posted through authorised SMS or the private maintenance console, with expanded history and clearer presentation.

SMS and Administration

Permission-controlled SMS commands and private maintenance pages provide remote operation, diagnostics, backups and recovery tools. DATV controller commands are prepared and will be enabled as each Pi is commissioned.

These facilities help bring the radio equipment, Portsdown controllers and monitoring together at a remote station powered by solar and wind.

The public pages are read-only. Station control requires SCART authorisation.
