Building a more resilient SCART station
We’re continuing to develop the SCART station at Fort Widley, with a focus on making GB3FW and GB7FW more resilient and reliable for everyone who uses them.
Running an off-grid site brings its own challenges. Available solar and wind generation, battery reserves and the equipment’s power demand all affect how long the station can keep going, particularly through the shorter days and less favourable weather.
Our work is bringing power monitoring, station health checks and remote management together, so we can better understand what is happening on site, make the most of the available energy and respond when something needs attention.
A new home for SCART Live
Alongside the work at the station, we’re preparing live.scartgroup.co.uk as the new home for the station dashboard, updates and recordings. Hosting these away from the hill will help keep information and saved recordings available when the station’s power or Internet connection is interrupted.
The move is still underway, so the new address currently has a holding page. Live readings and recordings will follow as the station connection and migration work allow.
Steady progress
There is more testing and fine-tuning ahead. These improvements won’t remove every interruption, but they are steps towards better visibility, easier recovery and more dependable operation.
Thanks to everyone helping with the site, equipment and testing—and to everyone bearing with us while the work continues. We’ll share further updates as things take shape.
